Rare large-format pre-War oil and gas map by the Petroleum Publishing Company. Shows the state of the oil industry on the eve of World War II. The U. S. oil industry was a critical asset for the success of the Allied forces as it provided gasoline, toluene (a component in TNT), and various lubricants for machines and weaponry. The map extends along the Gulf coast from the U. S.-Mexico border east to beyond New Orleans. A legend identifies oil fields (green), gas fields (red), salt domes, pipelines, refineries, shipping terminals, and more. Includes a comprehensive listing of refineries, oil and gas fields, and natural gas plants. Published in the April 20, 1939 issue of The Oil and Gas Journal.
